If you’re into Wimbledon-style lawns and comfortable recreation areas, Park Bloeyendael probably won't be to you're liking, but if you enjoy a great variety of wild florae and fauna, this is the place. Created in 1975, this 8-hectare park and its waterways are home to squirrels and toads and even American crayfish not to mention 50 species of birds and a wide variety of dragonflies and butterflies. Although picnickers might not appreciate them, entomologists will be thrilled to know that the park also boasts dozens of different flies including some rare species with intriguing Dutch names like paddenstoelgitje, variabele kommazweefvlieg and glimmend roetneusje.
