Worldwide, the Netherlands offers the largest concentration of art and culture per square kilometer and Utrecht is the city with the largest density of cultural treasures in Holland! The city's historical legacy as a prominent cultural powerhouse has left it well endowed when it comes to cultural sights and events – a fact that hasn't gone unnoticed, as it was recently named as one of five potential Dutch capitals of culture for 2018. It's been home to great designers and artists like Gerrit Rietveld, who lived and worked in the city his entire life, as well as cartoonist and children's author Dick Bruna.
Check out our calendar of events and discover music and exhibitions from classical concerts and big rock shows to little galleries and cosy theatres. Dutch people call Amsterdam the 'city of well-established art', but Utrecht is considered it's small child unrestricted by limitations.
