Stolle's big attraction is their pies, which are quite possibly the best in St. Petersburg. Extremely reasonably priced, both the sweet pies, filled with fruit, or savoury pies with mushrooms, fish or several different types of meat all get washed down nicely with a coffee or tea (or two or three). The relaxing atmosphere is soothing and addictive. Take note, they do not have wifi, probably in an effort to keep visitors from lingering too long. Stolle claims to have recreated the feel and flavour of an early 20th century St. Petersburg cafe, but really it is something more reminiscent of a modern Viennese Cafe, especially on Vasilyevsky Island (1-linya 50). Also at Kamennoostrovsky pr. 31, ul. Vosstaniya 32 and Vladimirsky pr. 15.
Definitely a cool place in principle, but the service is mediocre, you get draughts from the door, and honestly the pies are not that special. The main perk of the fruit-based ones is that they are not overly sweetened and therefore could make a good breakfast. The one pie that is worth the trip is the CHOCOLATE pie, which is one of the best ways one can possibly spend fifty roubles.
