A prime central location, just up a block from Nevsky, this compact, two-storey bar oozes with upper income gents and the ladies who love them. Once past face control at the bar, there's another vip option upstairs that's ideal for surveying the crowd/newcomers over your hookah and cocktails. Barmen are professional mixers who like to show off their dance moves and bottle tossing abilities, though they do tone it down and speed it up when the place gets busy. This is definitely designer dress territory so if you don't look the part, speak English - it might get you through.

St Petersburg I have been going to NeBar periodically since it opened and it remains my favorite place to dance. The club is not large so has a more intimate and friendly atmosphere, the music is consistently good as would be expected for a club owned by one of the most well known DJs in the region, the staff is always friendly and ready to get the party going, and last but not least, the crowd itself is the major reason to go, attractive, well dressed, well educated, fun loving and friendly young people. The club has a style and they work to maintain the atmosphere that made them popular in the first place: the quality of the customers. Not everyone can get in, and the reason is not dress or attractiveness, it is their method of keeping it a friendly, compatible clientele and no-hassle environment. As a result you will not find aggressive drunk guys that have ruined the reputation of many other clubs.
I was there last night until it was winding down at 6am and I do not fit the claimed image IYP presented, I am not rich, good looking or young but get in because the other attendees and I have similar style of having fun, preference for the music and philosophy of the club. If someone does not get in, it is probably because they gave the impression they would not fit in, have been drinking or drugging, act aggressively or a few other reasons that could get them refused entry. I like that, and it works to keep Nebar fun and the atmosphere positive. I wish more clubs paid more attention to the comfort of their guests.
