Mamele is St. Petersburg’s first dedicated hummuseria so it is no surprise that hummus is the star of the show here. You can have it with quinoa and cucumber, chicken and eggplant or beef and zucchini. Needless to say there’s also falafel, shakshuka, salads and a few other appetizers and meze dishes. The food here is definitely something every Jewish mommy (Mamele is “mommy” in Yiddish) would approve of – and that’s saying a lot! There’s also a very reasonably priced wine menu (by the glass starting from 190Rbl.) and on weekend evenings a few musicians get together and play some music for the guests. The interior is very warm, intimate and minimal, with plants and some wall paintings sprucing it all up.
