After a stint as a weather-beaten pub and internet café, the glorious Rudy Kot (Ginger Kat) is now entering its third age as 'Klub Kot', a promising haven for food, drink, and live music!
Old timers in the TriCity remember Rudy Kot as the place to go for live music lovers. First opened in March 1959, the debut performance of Gdynia-based band 'Rhythm and Blues' is argued to be ground zero of rock music in Poland. Many successful decades followed, until the 1990s, when the discotheque format began to weasel its way into the program. The establishment devolved into a dual life as a weather-beaten pub downstairs and an internet café upstairs. Our former editor described it as "still a perfectly acceptable place to have a lager while checking your e-mail." Before it completely closed, it served a stint as a paintball venue.
Following a 4.6 million zł rennovation, Klub Kot finally started its second life in 2024. Odessa, the brains behind B90, SPATiF, and Drizzly Grizzly have been brought in to revive the spirit of this once-thriving concert venue. It has been thoroughly stated that Klub Kot is neither exclusively a discotheque nor a concert venue. Moreover, it is an eclectic space offering culinary, social and artistic entertainment! Two new gastro ventures, Masło Maślane and Pizza Cat, offer modern Polish cuisine and New York-style pizza respectively!
