Sobieszewska Island (Wyspa Sobieszewska) or Sobieszewo as it is referred to locally, is an island at the mouth of Poland's great Vistula River. Easily in less than an hour by road and just over an hour by ferry (in high season), the island offers some peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of Gdansk's Old Town. The island is also home to over 300 types of birds and a walk via the trail through its bird sanctuary is a great way to relax. The island's sandy beaches also offer a less crowded place to relax during the warmer months.
