A good and very cheap alternative to the expensive car parks in the centre are the three Park & Ride (P+R) facilities at the edge of the centre. You park your car here, take the free bus/tram to the centre, and for a maximum of five people you pay only €4,50, a real bargain! Utrecht is encircled by three major motorways (A2, A12 and A27), but from whatever direction you come, there is always a cheap parking option nearby. A new one (De Uithof) will be ready September 2013.
