Throughout its history, Warsaw has had multiple main railway stations, starting with the Warszawa-Wiedeń Station (1845-1920) to the Warszawa Centralna Railway Station (since 1975) still functioning today. Due to financial and political circumstances, these “gates to the city” haven’t always maintained a high standard, leading to the building of several temporary stations in the Polish capital as well. This exhibit revolves around the chronological creation of railway stations in Warsaw, revealing these important public spaces as integral to the story of the city’s history, while detailing the characteristics of each. The exhibit was created to honour the 90th anniversary of the creation of the Polish State Railways.
