For decades, the narrow old Buna bridge, built with Turkish government funds in 1889, was the only way to access the Albanian territories and the Muriqan border crossing west of Shkodra. A manual mechanism allowed it tio open for passing ships. A new bridge now carries traffic westwards, with the old one becoming incorporated in a park and offering the most attractive way for pedestrians and cyclists to reach the lakeside villages of Siroka and Zogaj.
