It might be informally referred to as ‘Fortnum’s’, but there is nothing casual about this department store in Piccadilly. It began life back in 1707 as a simple grocery store, but has since evolved into a multi-storey beast with food fashion and more, including a number of excellent tearooms and restaurants. Fortnum’s was also the first shop in Britain to stock tins of baked beans, so thumbs up from us.
