Dear friends,

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the special edition of the guidebook Kaliningrad In your Pocket. The Kaliningrad region is one of the leaders in terms of tourism growth among the Russian Federation members. About 1,350,000 tourists visited the region in 2017. The rich cultural and historic heritage of the region, seaside and the unique national park – the Curonian Spit, lake Vyshtynec, local cuisine and the wide cultural life- all these aspects make the Kaliningrad region attractive for Russian and foreign tourists. In our region the sphere of tourism is united with culture which is an interesting and challenging experiment. The number of different cultural projects are becoming the point of attraction for tourists. 

The coming tourist season will become the special one for the Kaliningrad region. In June we will host 4 matches of the FIFA World Cup 2018. The Amber region welcomes guests from all around the world. More than 50 tourist routes were elaborated in the region. The “Guest card” gives the opportunity to obtain discount in the best hotels and restaurants of the region. 

The regional authorities make considerable efforts to welcome football fans properly. The accommodation infrastructure of the region is totally ready for this great event. Special tourism routes such as “Food goal”, “Kissing points”, “Don’t sle-e-e-p!” were elaborated. The best restaurants of Kaliningrad offer football menu which is very popular among tourists.*
