The quaint charm of Kaliningrad's riverside Fishing Village development, begun in 2006, owes a lot to its maritime centrepiece. With 133 steps going up to a height of 31 metres, on a good day the 50-rouble entrance fee is worth it for the view out over the River Pregel and Kant Island alone. If the weather isn't great, however, there's still a mini-exhibition of archaeological finds from the site (mainly weaponry and domestic items) to check out and a very pleasant little cafe called ‘Coffee Lounge’ on the second floor.
