Not many know, but it was actually a Croatian police officer who pioneered the use of fingerprinting in solving criminal cases. Ivan Vučetić was his name, although he was living in Argentina and going by Juan Vucetich at the time, and he used his expertise to identify a woman as the murderer of her two children. Grim stuff, of course, but the gift shop in the museum is a fabulous place to pick up unique souvenirs of the sleuthing variety.
