Hvar's long-standing Summer Festival provides a rich and varied menu of culture just at the time when the town is at its fullest. There is a growing number of other annual events celebrating the island's heritage, especially in the pre- and post-season periods when the focus moves away from tourism and more towards local life.
There is no shortage of live music and DJ action in high season, when rinkers are entertained by terrace bands, and the Carpe Diem Beach Club on the islet of Marinkovac comes into its own as a major Adriatic clubbing venue.
