ul. Dlugie Ogrody (ENG: Long Gardens Street) is located to the west of Gdańsk Old Town. It is considered to be the northern border of Dolny Miasto, the Lower City district. The area was incorporated into the administrative boundaries of the city at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. Known as Langgarten during the city's Prussian and German period, it owes its name to the narrow strips of land, which were merely a few metres wide and a whopping 100+ metres long. From 1945 to 1989, the street was part of Elbląska Street. The historic name was restored as part of the transformation of the early 90s. Various sites along ul. Dlugie Ogrody includes the historic Żuławy Gate and the historic St. Barbara Church.
