Originally founded in 1953 as Polonia Gdańsk, the club was renamed Stoczniowiec in 1970 and enjoyed its most successful period with league titles in 1976, 1981 and 1983. Polish hockey has been one of the sports, which has suffered most in the post-Communist era with the national side now a shadow of their former selves. The league was re-booted in 2014 as were a number of clubs and Stoczniowiec was itself rebooted by a consortium of fans. The club now appears as MH Automatyka with the Stoczniowiec tag often not included. Their biggest pull is their home rink at the famous Hala Olivia. You can buy tickets from an hour before each game.
