Although World War II ended for the Dutch in May of 1945, the final battle for the liberation of the Netherlands, better known as Operation Market Garden, began in September 1944. ‘Wings of Liberation’ is the apt name of this informative museum spread out over a number of separate buildings. The terrain itself was actually used as an Allied air base during the war. You'll find all of the usual vintage military equipment including rusted trucks, tanks, airplanes and tons of historical information as well as an interactive section featuring old films and a thrilling 3D movie. We especially loved the flight simulators, which we firmly believe aren't meant solely for children. Most of the exhibits are in Dutch, but some informative pamphlets are available in English.
