Eindhoven is, not unlike Amsterdam, one of the most international cities in the Netherlands. And what we've known for years has now finally become apparent to the rest of the world. Eindhoven is no longer a Dutch backwater, but rather one of the most inventive cities in Europe. All the factory complexes that were abandoned by electronics giant Philips were seen as eyesores until they were finally repurposed by this once sleepy town of roughly 220,000 inhabitants. Most of these buildings have recently been transformed into vibrant cultural and entrepreneurial centres not to mention pop-up restaurants and offices for graduates of Eindhoven's Design Academy. These creative spaces are scattered across the city, so you're never far away from an example of the city's new-found dynamism.
