Since it opened in 2011 the Ketelhuis (Boiler House) has been the coolest, most laid back venue in Strijp S, Eindhoven's hipster epicentre. So far the hype surrounding this place has yet to wane so check it out while it's still at the top of the heap. This former industrial complex has been stylishly renovated and divided into different areas including a coffeehouse and a lunchroom. The interior is a pleasant mix of industrial elements and romantic touches such as candle light, fresh flowers and attractive pottery. In the summer the giant terrace with long wooden picnic tables is the best place to mingle with bearded youngsters, especially when whole pigs and chickens are roasted on the barbecue. The café menu is divided into simple meat, fish and veggie sections, but the drinks list is extensive and will take a while to read through it.
