Due to the heavy fighting that took place in and around Eindhoven in 1944, stark reminders of WWII can be found throughout the area. Exactly 686 graves of the war dead can be found in this cemetery, most of them Allied airmen killed during strategic bombing campaigns. After years of neglect the graveyard has finally been renovated and once again is a worthy resting place for these fallen heroes. Among those who gave their lives are 570 British, 50 Canadian, 38 Australian, 9 New Zealand, 1 South African, 4 Dutch and 14 Polish soldiers.
