The village of Saint-Paul-de-Vence sits on a hill and is one of the oldest villages in the south-east of France. Right on the French Riviera, its neighbours are the popular destinations (Cannes, Antibes, and Nice). The village itself has houses and other buildings with a uniform look and interesting architectural designs. The narrow streets make the village tour so much fun and mysterious.
Art is the biggest topic in Saint-Paul-de-Vence. Artists and painters have flocked to this small village for many years because of the authenticity of the respect the village has given to the artists. Museums in Saint-Paul-de-Vence have showcased paintings of some of the prominent painters who graced the streets of the village looking for inspiration, Marc Chagall is one of the few who stayed. Picasso has visited this village as well. The Local Museum, Maeght Foundation, and Folon Capel, all are museums that exhibit various artwork. However, art is everywhere, they say the streets of Saint-Paul-de-Vence are an open gallery.
Sculptures that are uniquely done fill the streets of Saint-Paul-de-Vence. Lucky the Horse created by Remi Pesce is the darling of the village.
There are tours of the village conducted by Tourist Information Office located on Rue Grande. Also, the Cote D’Azur Culture Card gives access to all the three museums in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, which are just some of the places out of the 60 locations in Cote D’Azur (the French Riviera included) that the card gives access to.
