The place might not look as huge, but the Maeght Foundation harbours one of the largest art collection from the 20th century in Europe. The concept was initiated by Aimé & Marguerite Maeght, together with Josep Lluis Sert, an architect from Catalonia. The idea was to collect art, of different kinds and from different artists, and present them in a way that nature and gardens are included. Thus, the interaction between art, rooms, and nature was at the core of the project. The rooms were named after the artists who have contributed to the museum. Guided tours are available and there are free parking spaces and a cafe at the museum.
