Queen Wilhelmina was Queen of the Netherlands before, during and after World War II. Sculptor Mari Andriessen turned her into stone ‘in all that fur, in all those coats’. The carriage of the sovereign reveals a kind of aloofness and indomitability. The popular royal figure died in 1962.
