Since 1960 a brass statue of Anne Frank has stood in front of the Janskerk in memory of all those persecuted during World War II in the Netherlands. For anyone who hasn't heard of this famous holocaust victim and diarist, Anne Frank hid in a family friend's Amsterdam attic with her family until they were discovered and sent to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. The statue by Pieter H. ‘d Hont has been adopted by a local primary school who take care of it.
