Above Zurich, on the mountain chain east of the lake, there is a little natural gem for sunny winter days - the area called Guldenen. In a large clearing in the forest there is a small hill perfect for sledging. It’s not very long, but as an easy walk gets you back up in no time, you can run it many times. Children will definitely have lots of fun here! If there is enough snow, there is a serviced nordic skiing run connecting over to the Pfannenstil area - and hiking paths of course. A little kiosk serves food and hot drinks, even some with liquor to fight the cold, if you like. There is usually a lot more snow up here than in the city. The area is well worth a visit without snow - just for a relaxing walk in the beautiful outdoors. Take the Forchbahn train from Bahnhof Stadelhofen to the stop Scheuren (17 min), from there it’s a short walk south into the forest.
