Zurich is a safe city, and in fact there is no no-go area, even for single travellers at night. As a visitor you are unlikely to face any problems if you simply use common sense. Of course some petty crime does exist. Be on guard against pickpockets just as in any European city: in a bar keep your wallet in your trousers not in a jacket casually left lying around, and always watch your bags.
