Just when we thought that the era of the rock bar was definitely coming to a close as even some of Zurich's oldest rock havens (like the Kontiki) have been taken over by hipsters, Kater appeared (which means either hangover or a male cat) to buck the trend. Dark and simple, Kater features all of the rock venue basics like affordable beers, shots and drinks, narrow booths, memorabilia of some local rock heroes on the walls and, of course, loud rock music. A DJ usually rocks the house on Saturdays and on Mondays metal is king.
