The Zurich Festival presents the whole gamut of Zurich’s cultural life including opera, concerts, dance, drama and fine arts. There are any number of concerts, shows and plays every day at participating venues – we feature some highlights in our events calendar in the respective categories. The Festspiele takes place every other year. The 2018 edition entitled Schönheit / Wahnsinn (Beauty / Madness) focuses on questions like: Why are we fascinated by true beauty? When does freedom become a compulsion? On June 2 the festival will kick off with the opening of the new festival centre on Münsterhof, where some free events will be held during the festival (e.g. June 8, 20:30 - Tonhalle Orchestra open-air concert). Another highlight will be the free open-air projection of the opera Land of Smiles by the Zurich Opera on a big screen, which will take place on Sechseläutenplatz, just in front of the Opera house (June 16, 20:00, free admission).
