The Europaallee is a neighbourhood out of the box that is still under construction next to the main train station. The state-owned Swiss Railway Company SBB are the land owners of this large area which used to be a freight terminal. In collaboration with the city of Zurich it’s being transformed into a new district. Once all is built the Europaallee will be home to companies with around 8000 workplaces, 4800 students, 400 flats, dozens of shops, restaurants, bars and even a cinema. It is being built in stages, divided into 8 different plots. Currently around half of the plots are finished and in use. Many shops and restaurants are already open and working, so it's definitely worth a visit. We list a few of our favourites below.
