Models are indispensable in designing furniture or buildings and toy miniatures can cause the avid collector’s heart to beat a little faster. This exhibition illustrates the rich variety of the world of models and also invites visitors to build their own. Models are versatile. They make it possible for us to possess things we could not otherwise have. One can't help but immediately think of the innumerable collections of model railways or cars around the globe. Models cause us to reflect – and often also to play. Some are aesthetically delightful and sometimes even more fascinating than the reality to which they relate. They are generally smaller and easier to handle or exist only digitally. If a model offers a depiction of reality with little detail, it generally embodies the essence of this reality.
