November means different things to everyone, but we’d be lying if we said we weren’t thinking about wine at this time of year.
St Martin’s Day takes place on November 11, marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of the ‘wow, Croatian wine is really awesome’ season. Many winemakers across the country will mark the day with special celebrations, and these are just some of our favourites. Where better to start than with a village called St Martin? Sveti Martin na Muri, to be exact, is a gorgeous village on the Mura River that has a packed schedule on the day. Elsewhere. Bolfan Vinski Vrh (Hrvatsko Zagorje) will hold exceptional lunches and dinners, beautiful Požega will perform its annual blessing and miracles (complete with regional produce, crafts and workshops), and the young and old of Kutjevo will enjoy a memorable hike. Finally, Valpovo goes all in with a two-day excursion packed with sightseeing, tours, tasting and unforgettable experiences. Us? It’ll involve wine, for sure…
