Now we’re talking. There is primal magic to the food at Bekal that invigorates the soul, and while that might sound a little high and mighty, it doesn’t take long for diners to fall in love with the place. This isn’t your usual restaurant; there is no a la carte menu, for one. All diners are treated to a six-course menu costing €50, accentuated by elite organic wines. We’re burying the lede somewhat; everything here is prepared with fire and fire alone, creating an atmosphere that is equal parts punk and high-brow. The restaurant is located in a residential building, making it even more magical.
