As 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of Poland's independence, there's no better time to take a look at some key political and cultural figures that were crucial to the country's history. Jan Ignacy Paderewski (1860–1941) makes for a particularly interesting closer look as he was one part talented pianist and composer, but also another part politician, statesman and spokesman for Polish independence all over the world. In case that wasn't enough, he had quite the taste for Far Eastern art; he managed to build up quite the impressive collection, which you can see in all of its glory at this exhibit. Among a stunning selection of Chinese porcelain, enamelware, glass and lacquerware, you'll also find unique objects like an autographed photograph of Queen Victoria, a famous portrait of Paderewski, as well as his Steinway & Sons grand piano.
