The Hadži Hasanova Mosque stands proudly at the arrival of Trg Slobode, like a joyful parent showing off the achievements of a darling child. Constructed in the 16th century, the mosque was destroyed in the great fire that obliterated Tuzla in 1871, but it wasn’t long missing from the central skyline — the mosque was reconstructed in 1874. The stone building was the centre of Islamic life in Tuzla for centuries and remains an integral piece of city centre architecture.
