Sofia Expat Women’s Association (SEWA) is a non-profit organisation whose aims and objectives include friendship and support for ex-pat women living in Bulgaria, often far from their home country. They promote mutual understanding of the host country’s culture, traditions and lifestyle. In addition, members introduce each other to the culture, traditions, and lifestyle of their respective countries. Currently over 20 countries are represented. English is the official language, but German, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic and Bulgarian are also spoken by some of the members (to name just a few)
Apart from the regular monthly coffee morning to which all newcomers are welcome, SEWA offers its members a whole range of regular activities including English, Bulgarian & French conversation groups, book club, crochet group, cultural lunches, visits to the opera, nature walks, kids group and much more.
