Tucked inside one of the numerous courtyards along Piotrkowska, find a pleasing little bar which is clearly a labour of love for its Polish owners. Named in honour of a pub in Winchester, England, this basement space is decked out in all sorts of pictures and bric-a-brac that you might expect to find in such a rural British bar. And the British influence spreads to the bar where you’ll find bottled offerings of Old Speckled Hen and Spitfire and a rotating list of 15 beers on tap while Izabela takes on the landlady role very convincingly. While we were happy to see the British and American beers available, we instead went for one of the Polish microbrews on offer and recommend you do the same to get the best of all worlds – a Polish beer, in cosy surroundings with very un-British opening hours. The addition of English Premier League football on screens should only add to this bar's appeal.

Popped in here last night. The place was really buzzing with a great atmosphere. Good to see such a nice bar doing good business. Don't be put off by the passageway to the bar itself as its laid back in a courtyard with a not very large or noticeable sign at the entrance to the courtyard (close by the Artur Rubinstein statue).

Thanks for the comment. This happens to be one of our favourite Lodz bars for the reasons you mention. I can tell you that it was omitted because when the venue was checked by our researchers it was flagged as 'unreachable'. We check every venue before printing and if we cannot confirm information we have a policy of not including it in the print issue and then marking it for a re-visit. I hope that explains this unfortunate ommission.

I visited this bar last night. I really cannot understand why this has been omitted from the current edition of Łódź In Your Pocket, particularly given some of the bars that have been included. It has great music, a great selection of beers, amongst which are Angielskie Śniadanie (English breakfast!) along with a number of English beers including Bishops Finger, Old Speckled Hen and even Strongbow and Westons Cider. There is also a good selection of Polish beers but it is first and foremost themed as an English Pub and far more authentic than the so called Irish Bar just across the street.Not only that but it has Premier League football which for Łódź is as rare as hens teeth. It has a very friendly and warm atmosphere and I would highly recommend it.
