On the second floor of the renovated Cloth Hall, during the warmer months Cafe Szał offers great views of St. Mary's Basilica and the market square from its large terrace, making this is a clever spot for a romantic dessert date or snapping some stellar photos. The coffee, cocktails and cakes are all solid, but it's really the sunshine and amazing backdrop that you're here for. Soak it up. Open everyday from 10:00, their closing time may depend on the weather.
Closed for winter season, they will reopen around April.

There''s also a matching terrace on the other side of the stairwell which basically offers the same view (though oriented a bit more over the Grodzka side of the square and St. Adalbert''s Church). Sometimes it''s unlocked, which makes it an even better place for photos, since you don''t have couples sipping coffee in your way. Give it a try before you head to Cafe Szal. -Uncle Dunkel

I was up on their terrace one time when I spied a 20zł bill down on the market square in the middle of the crowds. I raced down and grabbed it before anyone saw it! True story!
