Nestled peacefully in a courtyard behind a high stone wall, this church's interior breaks with tradition. Rather than being covered in dark frescoes, the interior is starkly white with just a modest blue decoration, very much in the style of the surrounding Revival houses. Grey painted columns provide a contrast.
Its marble iconostasis is unique in Bulgaria and the large gold sunburst on it catches the eye. You may make a small donation in one of the collection boxes (the church itself requests a modest 50 stotinki).
If you are lucky music students will be practising violin in the academy across the alleyway, creating an unbeatable atmosphere.
