The river that flows through Struga gets its name from an Albanian word meaning to shine, a fact literally reflected in the famed clearness of its water. A popular location for rafting and fishing trips at several points along its length, the Black Drin begins its 149km journey to its end point in Albania at the edge of Lake Ohrid in the centre of town, where the rushing waters attract swimmers of all ages throughout the summer.
