Niš is increasingly well connected in terms of the internet, with the vast majority of WIFI access being free of charge. In terms of more conventional (old fashioned) telecommunications, mobile phones have of course taken the place of pay-phones. The best thing to do is buy a Serbian SIM card as soon as you arrive; a mere 200 dinars (€2) from kiosks and mobile phone shops. Top-up credit is available from either of the aforementioned outlets and in most menjačnice (exchange offices). The dial code for Serbia is +381, and for Niš, 18. From Serbian SIMs and other locations in the country (very cheap), dial 018 prior to the phone number indicated.
