Dating back to 1945, the Theatre on Malaya Bronnaya has a very rich and captivating history. The foundations were laid down by the theatre’s first director Sergey Mayorov and actors from various Moscow theatres of that period. At first the theatre was actually located not far from Baumanskaya metro station. Only in 1962 did the theatre make the long-awaited move to its new location on Malaya Bronnaya St. 4, where it still resides until this day. Today, the theatre’s director is Sergey Golomazov – a favorite of the critics – and the repertoire includes both Russian and foreign classics and magical children’s fairytales. Golomazov’s renditions of the classics have started a new epoch for the theatre and started attracting a younger and more modern audience, even placing it in the top 10 most-visited theatres of the city.
