Syrovarnya is hard to find; follow the map and you appear to be walking into a large, run-down car park. Persevere, however, and you will find a little knot of new, hip restarants and bars giving new life to the surrounding old industrial buildings. Sited in the remains of a former brewery, Syrovarnya has embraced industrial-chic to create an absolutely gorgeous dining experience; candles are set into exposed concrete pillars, pipes and old brew tanks gleam overhead, and the playlist is bass-heavy and a little Gothic. The food is sublime; Syrovarnya employ cheesemakers highly skilled in Italian traditional methods, who make cheese both for the restaurant and elsewhere. The menu is based on 'simple food', country-style meals with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The drinks menu is good, service is excellent, and their crème brulee may well be the best in Russia.
