This is THE shopping spot if you’re based in the heart of the historic Taganka area. This cozy and unpretentious spot has not yet been overrun by the city’s foodie elite so you can do your shopping in relative peace and without the huge lines. However, this market does serve as a backdrop for a few of Russia’s culinary shows so always have a pen and paper ready for some autograph opportunities. Despite its semi-celebrity status, the price to quality ratio here is slightly better than at the other central markets. In addition to all this, Rogozhskie Ryadi boasts one of Moscow’s best selections of sanctioned cheeses from France and Italy.
And if you do like yourself a bit of food stand action, Rogozhskie Ryady won’t disappoint with its smaller but fine selection. Karavai SV and Malenkaya Pekarnya Zhuralevikh provide the district’s best fresh bread and coffee. Pizza Like Pie & Bike (PLPB) offers the capital’s most creative stone-baked pizzas. Get your pho fix at Pho-Bo and then wash it down with a yeasty delight from Krafter, a Belgian-style brewery and pub. There’s also Uzbek plov (pilaf), sushi, Georgian, pelmeni and a few others in case eating is more of your thing than cooking.
