Тhe first thing to note about Nikolai Bar and Buffet is that it’s not a buffet. Instead, it is a restaurant offering a selection of Russian pirogi, sweet and savoury pies stuffed with meat, cheeses, vegetables and fruit. Alongside this, Nikolai has daily soups, salads and a dish of the day as well as a full bar. The food is tasty but not special, so try the pirogi, which are a traditional Russian treat. Nikolai is a good option for the thriftier traveller or if you want a quick bite. You can also settle in for a few hours alongside other students, and tap away on your laptop with a pie and coffee by your side.
