Situated right opposite the world famous State Tretyakov Gallery, Sok is the perfect place to feed your body after you’ve fed your soul. It is one of the first vegetarian/vegan/raw vegan establishments in the Russian capital and you can sense that from the interior. No trendy hipsters or industrial chic interior elements, just simple chairs, tables and couches along with a few paintings hung on the walls. But what it lacks in modern funky décor it makes up in a long menu with almost too many options to choose from. Highlights of the menu include the expertly made chickpea or beetroot burgers in a black bun and the chance to sample vegetarian (or even raw) borsch – and even vegan Olivier salad! Here you can also find the usual suspects like falafels, Indian daal, all sorts of salads, vegan/raw twists on classic Russian and Japanese dishes, juices, smoothies and anything else you’d expect to find in such a place. The variety of raw vegan desserts is pretty impressive and you can almost always get some sort of nice discount: 20% off between 12:00 and 16:00 on weekdays.
