The only church in Maribor to date back to the middle ages and its beautiful, sacred interior alone would make The Minorite Church and Monastery a fascinating place. However, The Minorite's Church and Monastery's past makes it even more alluring. It changed hands between different groups of nuns, until 1784 where the monastery was abolished under the Emperor Joseph II's reforms. It then became a military barracks and remained so until 1927, where it became a sacred place of worship once more. Located in the oldest part of the city, Lent, it is also surrounded by other fascinating things to see.
