When we first heard that Slovenia was finally getting its own authentic outpost of famed southern Colonel's fried chicken empire, like a lot of people we thought it was a joke. Not because Slovenes don't like deep fried goodness or have any aversion to soulless American capitalism. No, the reason was simply because the location made zero sense, some 15km north of Maribor just before the border with Austria, and not even at a motorway exit, meaning that if you actually go there you need to drive another 10km in the wrong direction to turn around when you leave. Nevertheless, every time we see social media posts and advertisements depicting what can only be described as fast food pornography we're tempted to get in our car and make the 30km return trip in order to satiate our most base primal gastronomic urges. So they must be doing something right!
