Swimming, sunbathing and drinking on Lake Lucerne: the best spots
more than a year agoThere are plenty of great swimming spots available and we'll tell you about our favourites in and around Lucerne. Many are not simply places to cool off, but also great locations to enjoy spectacular vistas of the mountain ranges surrounding the lake. Good swimmers can also jump into the River Reuss, which flows out of the Lake, and simply float around. Try entering the water after the famous wooden bridges and the needle damn at Kasernenplatz. If, however, you're not much of a swimmer, there are also great lakeside restaurants and open-air bars where you can enjoy food and drinks and stunning views of the lake. In some public places you can even do a barbecue and bring your own drinks (remember, in Switzerland it's legal to drink alcohol in public, so having a beer on the lakeside is completely fine).
There's plenty to do on Lake Lucerne and we've listed our favourite spots on this beautiful lake below. Enjoy!
