Palmiarnia Zielonogórska (ENG: The Zielona Góra Palm House) is a modern greenhouse building atop Wine Hill in Zielona Góra, built next to a historic winemaker's cottage from 1818. The first iteration was built in 1961, serving as a cafe, since which the building has been enlarged numerous times over the decades. Inside there are about 150 species of plants from the equatorial and tropical zones, including the Canary Island date palm, and you can also spot sturgeon and piranhas in the ponds and fish tanks. In addition to exhibiting exotic plants and animals, the building houses public restrooms, a tourist information point, and a lovely cafe/restaurant which features tables between the plants, ponds and aquariums and even on first-storey balconies. Free to enter, the Wine Park outside the Palm House serves as a picturesque vantage point over the city of Zielona Góra below.
